Upper Piedmont’s Playbook: Same as Trump’s, Same as Always

Read a few pieces from fellow residents lately? Same story, different author. The pattern’s undeniable. Just like Trump handed favors to the wealthy, ” Upper Piedmont” – our local wealthy elites and deep-pocketed developers – runs this show. They’ve got the council’s ear, the power. The rest of us in “Lower Piedmont”? We’re shut out. Our voices? Drowned out. They impose their will. Period.

The council? Pure rubber stamp. No real debate up there, just like watching those old Trump cabinet meetings nodding along. They enable Upper Piedmont’s agenda without blinking. It’s cronyism, plain and simple.

The City Administrator? She’s their enforcer. Acts downright thuggish – silencing questions, steamrolling anyone who pushes back. Straight outta the bully’s handbook. Raw power protecting privilege, right here in our backyard.

The proof’s in the planning: Where’s the massive new development really going? Slammed into Lower Piedmont. Why? To line developers’ pockets and give Upper Piedmont residents their “affordable” housing – just not near them. We get the density, the traffic, the burden.

This ain’t complicated. It’s the same old rigged system: power serves wealth, the rest get dictated to. Upper Piedmont imposes; Lower Piedmont complies. Feels like carpetbagger cronyism dressed up local. We see the game.
