Our “Visionary” Council (and Their Administrator): Where Public Input Goes to Die (Again!)

Remember that Moraga Canyon development that was deemed unsafe back in 2010 and 2012? Well, apparently, “safety concerns” and “expert warnings” are just quaint little suggestions they’ve managed to conveniently lose again! It’s like they had a dartboard with “who to listen to” on it, and the dart consistently landed on “nobody who actually lives here.” Clearly, their crystal ball showed a future where traffic magically disappears and sight lines don’t matter, even after 15 years. Pure genius!

And wouldn’t you know it, it’s the same old song and dance for other “minor” inconveniences, like various park projects or changes around town. Neighbors are yelling, valid concerns are raised, and even lawsuits are sometimes flying, but our esteemed administrator (and the council that goes along with it) just blissfully pushes ahead. Honestly, you have to wonder if they’re holding their meetings in a soundproof bunker or just have a collective allergy to public input. It really makes you think: are they managing a city, or just expertly crafting the longest-running comedy sketch in Piedmont? It’s a pattern that’s getting less funny by the day, especially when it involves potentially unsafe projects.
