On Dec 2, 2024, the Piedmont City Councilmembers approved an ADDITIONAL $2.8 million for the pool project!

During the December 2, 2024 Piedmont City Council meeting, the City Council approved an ADDITIONAL $2.8 million in funding towards the completion of the community pool. The question is – – when does the open checkbook slam shut?

I do not care if the CC members appear to be frustrated and upset with having to approve the additional funds – – it’s ALL SHOW and deflection of blame! The blame is on the INCOMPETENCE of (now ex) Mayor Jennifer Cavenaugh, the CC, the City Administrator and the Pubic Works Director.  Each of the aforementioned have no true business financial skills nor large scale corporate legal skills to handle large sums of monetary funds nor review construction contracts.  

Prior to awarding the construction contract, the CC would have been wise to consult with any number of numerous Piedmont residents skilled at large scale building projects, financial management and legal knowledge for input.

My hope is that when the project is finalized, the CC will review the original contract to find flaws within and consult with a legal team to recoup any unnecessary overspending.
