Trump Derangement Syndrome

When individuals are hit with Trump Derangement Syndrome we are treated to opinion pieces by the contributor of the recently published piece titled “Upper Piedmont’s Playbook: Same as Trump’s, Same as Always” .

As an Upper Piedmont resident, I am quite offended that this Lower Piedmont contributor (LPC) … who has an obvious chip on his/her shoulder … sorry, but not sorry, you can stick pronouns where the sun don’t shine … would target fellow neighbors who live in Upper Piedmont. As the LPC continues to play the Lower Piedmont victim … cue the violins and background sobs … I spy on Zillow.com Lower Piedmont single family homes in the $3m range.  I implore the LPC to release the Upper Piedmont grudge and stop the flow of alligator poor-me tears . Shame on the LPC for spewing your righteousness when you live comfortably in a Lower Piedmont home … safe to bet valued in the $1m+ range … while enjoying the benefits of having the Piedmont Police at your fingertips. Oh, wait, the LPC sounds like the type that would like to defund the police … but yet call Piedmont Police when needed.

How can the LPC say his/her voice is drowned out? Does the LPC actively speak on a continued basis at City Council meetings to voice dissent? If not, then the LPC DOES NOT have the right to complain. Also, regular emails to the City Council do not count … the LPC needs to be visually present and vocal at City Council meetings …. otherwise get off your soapbox of complaining that you’re not being heard. Boo-hoo!

When I checked the Housing Element Project website yesterday there was no mention of the affordable housing being built in Lower Piedmont but rather in Moraga Canyon. Obviously the LPC is misinformed and hope with all his/her mighty-might that the mysterious deep-pocket developers can magically slap down housing in the Upper Piedmont area to teach us elite Upper Piedmonters a lesson. Well, they can’t do it in the center of town because there is no space. Unless you dislike Piedmont Park, nature and the children’s playgound – maybe slap down a 5 story apartment building on the site … but wait, based on your writing, I’m sure your next opinion piece will be about climate change and your love/hate relationship with Elon & Tesla as you tool around town in your Tesla or Prius – or worse yet your gas guzzling 1995 Toyota Camry – with a fading Bernie Sanders bumper sticker and shiny new No Kings bumper sticker.  Well, they can’t do it on the Piedmont Reservoir in Upper Piedmont because it’s owned by EBMUD … so good luck on wrenching that property away from their hands. Well, they can’t do it on Hampton Field in Upper Piedmont because all kids deserve a place to play baseball and soccer … yes, even spawn of evil Upper Piedmont residents deserve a place to play. Maybe you’re thinking that the city of Piedmont can take over the Bank of America/Citibank/Mulberry’s site via eminent domain? Well that’s not going to happen because the surrounding small narrow streets cannot handle the ingress/egress of added congestion … plus with that thinking you’re channeling Trump.

If you’re complaining about increased traffic on Grand Avenue, then how about doing away with those useless bike lanes … but I’m sure your climate control righteousness loves the bike lanes that probably only 20+ people use on a daily basis. But you need not fret too much about the housing plan because California law does not mandate specific housing construction—only planning for it.

I’m beyond disappointed with the current and past City Council’s lack of cojones. This is not about the council members being puppets of the Upper Piedmont wealthy … though I suspect that the author’s $1m+ home puts him/her into the dreaded 1% … but rather council members who are too afraid publicly of being the odd person out with the dissenting voice. I can guarantee that each of those council members are (spineless) Democrats who are afraid of their own shadows and do not want to disappoint the people that voted them into office.

You want an efficient City Council, advocate for business savvy candidates rather than lawyers (except for that useless Jen Cavaungh – and Lower Piedmont resident – who seems to have received her MBA from the back of a US Weekly magazine). The city needs to be run like a business. People need to be held accountable for their work. Oh, but wait, the Upper Piedmont wealthy elite won’t run because they’re too business operating their companies to create dinero which can be used to control the City Council (from quickly finishing the new pool, changing tennis courts into pickleball courts and directing the City Council on where to place affordable housing). Those darn evil Upper Piedmonters – all wealthy elites, every single one of them – the evilness of them!

The City Administrator is unfortunately doing her job…a terrible one in fact. I’m sure a majority of Piedmonters would love to hear the words  …. YOU’RE FIRED!  (a big thanks to DJT for that iconic line)!

Here’s a piece of advice: If you’re dissatisfied with how things are being run in Piedmont, your options are: (1) move; (2) during the next election actively campaign against those individual/(s) that don’t value your wisdom; or (3) better yet, run for a spot on the City Council. Personally I vote for anyone who is not endorsed by the usual cronnies in town because you’ll end up with the same result time after time. When will Piedmonters learn?

I hate to play the Democrat and Republican game but one last thing … with Trump Derangement Syndrome comes blinders.

Hope The Big Guy, Hunter, Burisma & China are doing well!

What’s The Clinton Foundation doing nowadays?

Remind me again how many Obama “The Deporter-In Chief” deported out of this county?
