Piedmont’s Pool—A Splash of Incompetence, Courtesy of Your City Council

Ah, Piedmont’s community pool project—a masterpiece of mismanagement and a shining example of how not to run a public works project. Thanks to our beloved City Council, what was supposed to be a refreshing oasis has turned into a money pit with a side of delays. Who knew building a pool could be so hard? Oh, right—everyone.

Despite being 86% complete (a number that’s about as reliable as a paper umbrella), the project is months behind and millions over budget. But don’t worry! The Council has a new foolproof excuse: rain. Yes, rain—that thing that famously never happens in California. And let’s not forget the gas line under Magnolia Avenue, which apparently surprised everyone except, well, anyone with a map.

While taxpayers fume, the Council is too busy giving itself a round of applause for a job… not done. Bravo, folks! Your ability to celebrate mediocrity is truly Olympic-level.

Piedmont deserves leaders who can manage more than a pat on their own backs. Until then, grab your floaties—this pool of incompetence is deep, and it’s costing us a fortune.
