Piedmont’s City Council & Administrator Keep Playing Hide-the-Ball with Public Trust
Let’s get real—since our current City Administrator rolled into town, dodging accountability has become Piedmont’s favorite pastime. Public Works Director Gonzales swears the Linda Dog Park came up nine times, but let’s be honest: those were just drive-by updates, not actual discussions. And at the April 2nd meeting? Crickets about the plan to shut it down. If he knew and didn’t say squat, that’s shady as heck. So why is the City Council looking the other way instead of demanding answers?
Even the Park Commission’s own 2024 report said loud and clear they wanted to fix the dog park, not nuke it. But Gonzales blew right past them like they were a stop sign on Oakland Ave. And our Council? MIA, as usual. Instead of reining him in, they’re letting him hide behind vague “liability” excuses like it’s some get-out-of-jail-free card. News flash: taxpayers deserve better than this backroom nonsense.
Bottom line? This administration’s MO is stonewalling, and the Council’s letting it happen. Who’s holding the City Administrator accountable? Because last I checked, “trust us, we know best” isn’t how local government’s supposed to work. Wake up, Piedmont—this isn’t some private fiefdom. We pay for transparency, and we’re getting ripped off.
