Yes on Measure H Committee – –  Gaslighting Piedmont Voters At Its Best

I am voting “NO” on Measure H because I believe it’s misleading and fails to address the issues that matter most for Piedmont schools.

The Yes on Measure H committee, led by Ted Kinch and Rebeccah Pelle, presents arguments that seem disingenuous. For instance, YesOnPiedmont.org claims that Measure H is not a tax increase, yet in the same breath mentions there will be “minimal annual adjustments.” This doublespeak raises questions about transparency and trust.

More importantly, I have serious concerns about the quality of teachers at Piedmont Middle and Piedmont High. In my opinion, a minority of teachers at these schools are mediocre at best—some simply occupy their positions, waiting for retirement, without genuine investment in our students’ learning. This complacency is enabled by the job security provided by the teachers union, making it difficult to ensure accountability and excellence in the classroom.

While I expect many Piedmont voters will reflexively vote “yes” on anything related to schools—because historically that’s what passes—I believe it’s time for a change.

So join me in voting “NO” on Measure H to send a message to the school board: prioritize accountability and address underperformance among teachers, rather than simply approving new measures without meaningful reform.
