Applauding the banning of men from women’s sports

I have always considered myself a progressive liberal until the day President Biden proposed allowing biological males who identify as female to compete in women’s sports.     

Although PUSD is an inclusive community, Piedmont mothers were silently concerned for their daughters. Piedmont parents fight for Title IX so that our daughters have the same opportunities as our sons in sports. Female sports exist so that female athletes have a space of their own to exhibit their feats of athletic strength, speed and rigor amongst other female athletes. Not only should our Piedmont girl athletes be protected on the sports fields but also in the locker rooms.

I applaud President Trump for signing an executive order yesterday banning transgender women from women’s sports. As a Piedmont parent and weekend athlete, I dreaded the day when PUSD would be faced with the need to confront the issue of transgender women in women’s sports. But now the dread has lifted with the executive order.
